Partisan attacks on Obama

The partisan attacks on Obama are difficult to fathom because he is the most moderate president we have had in decades. And he has in fact been one of the most vocal opponents of partisanship. Whether he originated the sentence, "We can disagree without being disagreeable," or not, he used it frequently during his campaign and has used it since his election.

He also has the least controversial, least reproachable background of any president we have had in decades. He has no history of alcoholism, he is a good family man, he has never been divorced, he has an outstanding educational background, he was a university professor, he is devoutly religous but does not force his religion on others, there is no hint that he has ever had an affair, and there is no hint of scandal about him. The news organizations must be desperate.
